SpectraRep Provides Systems Integration to Microsoft Corporation at NAB 2003 Las Vegas, NV April 5-10

New Applications for Digital Television (DTV) Datacasting

(Chantilly, VA) April 4, 2003 - SpectraRep, the leader in digital television data networking solutions, is providing Microsoft Corporation with systems integration in support of several DTV datacasting demonstrations at NAB 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 5-10. SpectraRep is integrating tools and technology from a host of leading technology providers including Sinclair Broadcast Group, B2C2, Logic Innovations, Tandberg Television and Linx Electronics to support Microsoft’s demonstration of real-world solutions for consumers and businesses. SpectraRep will be in the Microsoft booth (#SL-136) demonstrating both HD and SD quality Windows Media 9 Series video streamed live over KFBT-DT (channel 29, Las Vegas).

“Through this innovative demonstration, SpectraRep is showing how Windows Media 9 Series can be used through non-IP based systems such as digital television,” said Jonathan Usher, director of the Windows Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp.

“This opens up new revenue streams for local television stations while at the same time offering corporations and content providers with cost effective, high quality distribution for corporate communications or even movies.”

“In conjunction with our great technology partners, we put together two groundbreaking demonstrations of how DTV datacasting and live streaming video technology can be integrated to distribute wireless last mile broadband IP multicast audio and video to the end user’s PC,” said SpectraRep’s President, Rick Ducey. “DTV datacasting not only provides an instant solution to last mile bandwidth constraints in the Internet market, but it also helps to address the challenge of delivering HDTV- and SDTV-quality streaming video to PC users.”

SpectraRep’s core competencies in the areas of wireless datacasting, project management and IT systems integration offer a unique set of capabilities suited to support an innovative class of streaming video and data distribution services.
