SPECTRAREPTM AND ROCKY MOUNTAIN PUBLIC
TELEVISION DEMONSTRATE APPLICATIONS FOR DTV DATACASTING TO EDUCATION AND PUBLIC
SAFETY PROFESSIONALS
(Chantilly, VA, April 2 , 2003) - (Chantilly,
VA) March 31, 2003 -
SpectraRep, a leading provider of content delivery, datacasting, and strategic
technology solutions
and its station partner Rocky Mountain PBS, demonstrated the benefits of transmitting live streaming
content utilizing digital television to several
dozen Denver area education, public
safety, and corporate professionals. The purpose of the three-day demonstration was to show these area professionals new technology readily available for addressing their business needs and objectives. SpectraRep and Rocky Mountain PBS were able to demonstrate superior transmission opportunities for distance learning, corporate communications, and public safety communication requirements. This was accomplished utilizing two 1Mbps bandwidth, pre-encoded video streams, a live encoded 1Mbps camera feed, and file transfers with up to 7 megabytes of data per transfer in a matter of a few seconds. The file transfer was conducted on-demand via network/Internet connection by a remote user. "This was an invaluable opportunity for us to team with our station partner to show these professionals what a superior option they have for meeting their objectives," stated SpectraRep President Rick Ducey. "The quality, reliability, and accessibility of digital television for the purposes of education, public safety, and corporate communications is unmatched among today's local content delivery options," Ducey continued. This demonstration was intended to introduce to those in attendance the viability of digital television and the ease of deployment. Using Denver station KRMA-DT to datacast to its entire coverage area, the event was received at the University of Denver utilizing a desktop antenna and a laptop computer.
