SpectraRep to Demonstrate Live Educational Datacasting Using Digital Television
Ed Tech & Ice Cream Event to Highlight Educational Technology

(Chantilly, VA, August 23, 2002) - SpectraRep announces that they have been selected to datacast live content over digital television at the Ed Tech & Ice Cream event being held on Capitol Hill Sept. 4, 2002. The event is sponsored by the Association of Public Television Stations and will take place from 3:30 - 6:30 pm, in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, Room G-50. APTS is holding this event to highlight the educational technology initiatives that public television stations are undertaking as part of the transition to digital television. SpectraRep, along with 28 other vendors, will be on-hand to demonstrate their latest technology.

"Television has been called a vast wasteland, but digital television brings educational opportunities for the youth of tomorrow. This event will showcase some of the many educational technology advances that are already underway," says John Lawson, President and CEO of APTS. SpectraRep will datacast high quality live content over WETA-DT to multiple receive locations in the Washington area. This new technology can be used for distance learning, streaming video and other K-12 classroom materials delivered to students over digital television signals. "The benefits of datacasting to schools are scalable, cost effective, high quality distribution of any digital content to an unlimited number of students within the television station coverage area," states SpectraRep's President, Rick Ducey. SpectraRep is a leader in developing educational and commercial applications for datacasting over digital television. The event is open to the public.
