SpectraRep Acquires AlertStorm^TM Product Line.

Acquisition Solidifies SpectraRep's Leadership in the Digital Television Datacasting Market.

Chantilly, VA - December 7^th, 2004 - SpectraRep^® (www.spectrarep.com), a leading provider of homeland security, public safety and distance learning solutions for the delivery of IP video, rich media and data over digital television and satellite - today announced it acquired the NDS AlertStorm™ product line.  

AlertStorm™  was developed as a datacast application for government, enterprise and educational clients to issue and manage All Hazards Alerts such as weather alerts, Amber alerts and other local alerts.

SpectraRep’s acquisition of AlertStorm™ further strengthens SpectraRep's in-house capabilities to deliver enhanced DTV and satellite datacasting services for public safety, homeland security, military and education. 

Designed for emergency response workers and the general public, the AlertStorm™ datacasting application is a single managed system that works with any digital broadcasting system. AlertStorm’s independence of phone or cable networks means it can transmit even when other systems have failed.  AlertStorm™ integrates easily with all digital broadcast systems and is compatible with the Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (EMWIN).

SpectraRep will expand the functionality of the AlertStorm™ product line, which will be incorporated into SpectraRep’s IncidentOne^SM package of training, alerting, critical incident response information and emergency management applications. 

AlertStorm which delivers alerting and other media via digital television signals uses the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) and other protocols/data formats. AlertStorm™ can automatically transmit warnings, including EAS, Amber and the National Weather Service’s EMWIN.  Messages can be created, sent and received on a laptop, desktop, mobile data terminal, PDA device or mobile phone system.
