First Response homeland
security application showcased at Government Video Technology Expo
(Chantilly, VA, December 2, 2002)
- SpectraRep, the leader in Digital Television (DTV) data networking solutions,
will provide a real-time demonstration of homeland security data multicasting
using DTV spectrum at the Government Video Technology Expo 2002
held at the Washington DC Convention Center, December 4 - 5, 2002. SpectraRep
will demonstrate a live video Emergency First Response application using mobile
computing devices such as a PDA and tablet PC. SpectraRep's solutions - based on
next generation digital television technology - offer a wide range of video and
data broadcasting services for homeland security applications. This technology
can provide local, state and federal agencies with unique capabilities suited to
immediately meet the requirements of a range of homeland security and
information needs.
SpectraRep will be located in booth #1126 exhibiting with Marshall
Communications, a GSA contract holder. SpectraRep will also be demonstrating
live video DTV datacasting at SkyStream Networks in booth #1231. The Government
Video show will highlight video applications for homeland security.
"SpectraRep will offer a very compelling example of how DTV datacasting and
mobile computing technology can be integrated to distribute wireless last mile
broadband data and video to widely dispersed locations in the field,"
states SpectraRep's President, Rick Ducey. Integrated mobile computing solutions
provide fast access to critical data, including high-quality video, real-time
data and fast transfer of large quantities of data. This information could
include blueprints, communications/networking/electrical schematics, and
locations of fire suppressant equipment or locations of critical assets.
Homeland security applications include security and safety audits, real-time
transmission of incident data, and emergency response preparedness training for
state and local agencies, military facilities, corporate campuses, public-use
facilities, power plants, banks, hospitals, and schools.
SpectraRep's core competencies in the areas of wireless datacasting and IT
systems integration offer a unique set of capabilities suited to support an
innovative class of homeland security solutions in the following key areas
outlined by the National Strategy for Homeland Security:
- Intelligence and warning
- Protecting critical infrastructures and key assets
- Emergency training and preparedness for response
