Nashville Public TV Selects SpectraRep® Affiliation Program for DTV-IPcasting™
Nashville Public TV Invests in DTV-IPcasting To Increase Revenue & Serve Public Safety Users With Broadcast IP For Video & Data Applications.
Chantilly, VA - February 17, 2004 - SpectraRep® (www.spectrarep.com) the leader in Digital TV (DTV) IP networking solutions, today announced that Nashville Public Television (NPT), www.wnpt.net, has selected the SpectraRep Affiliation Program to increase revenue from its DTV-IPcasting™ business and systems.
Under the SpectraRep Affiliation Program, NPT establishes a combination of technology, applications and business expertise to meet end user requirements in the area of homeland security, public safety, government and education – all using the DTV spectrum for vital IP broadband distribution within the Nashville over-the-air coverage area. SpectraRep provides system design and PC applications – all focused for the highest possible impact to end users anywhere within the reach of the DTV signal. In addition, under the Affiliation Program, NPT enjoys the benefit of SpectraRep’s market and business models that positively impact budget constraints – a key point for the future of any public broadcaster.
According to Steve Bass, President of NPT, "DTV-IPcasting is an important next step in our mission to serve the community while attracting added revenue to our bottom line. For the past year, SpectraRep has provided NPT with a range of advice and expertise as we plan for new applications in digital broadcasting. We share a common vision of the potential for DTV-IPcasting to meet critical needs in public safety and education for Tennessee and this agreement puts in place a solid affiliation program to begin demonstrating that impact. SpectraRep is the perfect partner for NPT because they focus on the needs of the individual station, rather than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach."
Rick Ducey, President of SpectraRep, added, "NPT selecting our Affiliation Program allows them to deliver new sources of financial support to the station while they pioneer service offerings for the community. The program enables NPT to leverage its local community roots and investment in digital television and SpectraRep enhances these strengths by bringing emergency first responders and educational users an exciting new set of services."
NPT starts operations in mid February using the Triveni Digital Skyscraperâ„¢ System, an industry leading toolset that delivers DTV-IPcasting as well as hosting various third party applications. In addition, selected applications will be tested in the public safety community in Tennessee as SpectraRep and NPT tailor the system for the needs of users across police, fire, emergency management and medical preparedness areas. NPT has selected the NDS AlertStormâ„¢ as one of its first public safety applications.
